Once upon a time there was this girl just finishing her third year of college. This girl was working so hard to change her life around after some rough teenage years. Little did she know her life was about to get even more complicated.

After finishing her last semester final for the year, the girl had time to celebrate. She hadn’t been “out” in a long time and decided she wanted to go dancing. She called a friend to ask where the safest place to go would be. It just so happened this friend and some buddies were going out and invited her to tag along. Perfect! He would pick her up, they would go meet the others and everything would be fun and safe.

Or so she thought….

The girl didn’t have any intentions of getting drunk that night. She planned to have 2, maybe 3 select drinks tops. She bought her first drink then hopped on the dance floor. After about 20 minutes, her “friend” bought her the 2nd. It was a shot she had many times before so knew the effects. Or not. The next morning her “friend” woke her up. She was in his apartment, naked, and felt like she had the worst flu ever. He took her home and drove off, not a care in the world about what happened. Hell, she didn’t know what happened. After taking that shot, to this day, she can’t remember anything else from that night.

For three days, she stayed home feeling sick as all hell. 6 weeks later, a pregnancy test came back positive. A few months later, the doctor put her on a “mood stabilizer” medication. The medication caused extremely rapid weight gain. A few months after that, the baby was born, she graduated college and the “friend” was causing her even more problems.

Once she was able to flee town (with the baby), she had a chance to reflect on everything that had happened within the past year. OMFG! The medication went in the trash and she got started digging herself out of the depths of this swamp. Thus, began her journey to try to lose the weight and reverse or at least stop the progression of other health issues caused from the medication. It would be a long, difficult, lonely journey, but she would succeed and figure out how to help others who don’t know where to turn to start their healing process.

Our darkest moments give us our best lessons. They help us find strength we never knew we had. If I hadn’t gone through that hell, I honestly don’t think I would be running my own company to help others transform into what they want to be.
